Applying Pre-Approved Headings

Your Marketing team has created pre-approved heading styles to help you format text quickly while staying compliant with branding guidelines.

  • These styles are available in the Format drop-down menu in the Toolbar or the Quick Access menu.

  • Certain fonts or styles you try to apply may not appear as expected, since they can be overridden by these pre-set styles.

  • In the Toolbar or Quick Access menu, select Format to view available options for Text (paragraph style) as well as Heading 1 through Heading 6.

Best Practices for Headings

  • Use headings hierarchically by number (e.g., Heading 2 → Heading 3 → Heading 4), not by visual style.

  • Start each new section with a Heading 2, which should represent the main idea or topic of that section.

  • Use Heading 3 for subpoints under a Heading 2, and Heading 4 for further detail beneath a Heading 3.

  • Use headings for structuring content only—not to make text big or bold.

  • Headings improve both SEO by helping search engines to better understand and index your page’s structure.

  • Properly used headings also help to structure the contents of your web pages to help your users locate information more easily.

Important: Do not use Heading 1. This style is reserved for the Page Title, which typically appears in your page’s banner.

Example 2 illustrates how headings can work in a narrative format.

  • Heading 2:"Welcome to Veriday Wealth Management Group [...]" - Acts as our starting point—introducing our user to our page.
  • Heading 3: "Achieve financial freedom [...]" - Relates to our Heading 2 by acting as a subtitle to our Heading 2.
  • Heading 4: Breaks into further details about the information presented in Heading 2 and Heading 3.

Alignment

Applies a Left, Center, Right, or Justify text-alignment to your current content line or selected text.

Bold, Italic, & Strikethrough

Applies a Bold, Italic, or Strikethrough style to your text selection.

List

  • Converts your current line or selected text into a bulleted or numbered list.

  • If a list is already selected, you can use this option to switch list types.

Note: To remove list formatting, place your cursor at the start of the first list item and press Backspace. Repeat for each list item until the formatting is cleared.

More Formatting

Additional styling options are available in this More formatting drop-down menu:

  • Code: Converts your current selection into a snippet of code, displayed inside of its own container.
  • Underline: Adds an underline to the current text selection.
  • Superscript: Converts the current text selection into superscript (smaller text set slightly above the normal line of type).
  • Subscript: Converts the current text selection into superscript (smaller text set slightly below the normal line of type).
  • Highlight: Adds a yellow highlight to the current text selection.
  • Clear all styles: Clear all text overrides and styles back to the default formatting set for your environment.
