Configuring a Custom Domain Redirect to a DA URL

Modified on Thu, 7 May at 10:39 AM

This option redirects all traffic from a custom domain to the default DA URL when a user navigates to the custom URL.

Note: SSL Cert must be valid for all domains.

To have the custom domain point to an advisor's website, the custom domain's DNS records must be configured in the domain registrar (where you purchased the domain name). Please ensure you, or the advisor who owns the domain name is able to login to the domain provider account.

After you have logged in, navigate to your DNS Records page.

⚠️ Important: Do NOT create a domain forward. Forwarding will not configure the domain correctly.

Step 1: Add DNS Records

Add the following DNS records:

A Record

Type: A

Name: @

Value: (Please contact Digital Agent Team for IP address)

Please remove any previous A records

CNAME

Type: CNAME
Name: www
Value: @ (or use your custom url name if @ is unsupported, eg. customname.com)

The "www" CNAME record ensures visitors can access both "www.sitename.com" and "sitename.com". Without this record, navigating to "sitename.com" will return an error.

Optional: Additional Redirects

If you have any additional domains you'd also like to redirect, ensure the DNS records have also been updated.

Step 2: Create a Site Launch Ticket

After your DNS records have been configured in your registrar:

  1. Submit a new Domain-Related Request ticket in the Digital Agent Support Portal.
  2. Set the Domain Request Type to Site Launch.
  3. The specified domain will be your primary redirect.
  4. Any secondary redirects may be included in the Additional domain redirects field.
  5. Once received, the Digital Agent Team will escalate your Site Launch request to have the primary custom URL added to our database.
