Displaying Updates Using the Updates Web Gadget

If your environment does not use the Content Library or Content Collections to display Updates, you may configure the Updates web gadget by selecting the categories and hubs to you'd like to display your Updates from. 


Note: Updates must be approved before they can be displayed on your site.


Adding & Configuring the Updates Web Gadget

1. From the Digital Workspace, select My Website. Navigate to the page that you would like to display your Updates on. 


2. Click on Browse… and select Web Gadget from the drop-down menu.


3. Find the Updates gadget in the click +Add to add it to your page, just below the banner. 


4. Configure the Updates web gadget:

  1. Title: The title of the collection. Displays as a header above your collection items.
  2. Layout:
    1. List View: Displays only the publish date and the Link Title.
    2. Grid View: Displays the Feature Image, upload date, author, category, excerpt, and Link Title.
    3. *Testimonial View: Displays Testimonial type Updates. (*Only available in certain environments).
  3. Number of Updates: The maximum number of Updates to display.
  4. Customize hubs and categories to display: Allows you to select the Categories and the specific Hub you’d like to display your Updates from.


5. Select the Categories you'd like to display your Updates from, then click Add for each one.

Tip: How categories work

  • Adding a category allows an Update to appear whenever that category is selected in the Updates web gadget.
  • Think of a category like a checkbox. Selecting more than one category will display the Update whenever any of those categories are selected.
  • You may also use:
    • Select all categories: Adds every categories to your selection.
    • Uncategorized: Displays any Updates not assigned a category. 


6. Find and select the name of your hub, then click Add.


7. When you are finished configuring the Updates gadget, click Save.


8. Your Updates will now display in your selected view.


Reconfigure the Updates Web Gadget

At any time, you may make configuration changes to your existing Updates web gadget by selecting the Options drop-down menu and clicking Edit to view to the configuration screen.
