Adding an Anchor

Modified on Thu, 15 Aug, 2024 at 6:09 PM

An Anchor allows you to effectively create a bookmarked location on a page that you can directly link to. When the link is clicked, it will "jump" to this location on the page. An anchor may be added to the same page, or a different page entirely.

Adding an anchor is a two step process:

  1. Adding an Anchor
  2. Linking to an Anchor

Adding an Anchor

1. Find the content block where you want to add the anchor. This is going to be the End point of where you want your link to go.

2. Click the Options drop-down menu and select Edit to open up the Web Content Editor.

3. In the Description field, click where you want your anchor to be located.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT highlight your text. You want your anchor to be a stand-alone item.

4. Select the  Anchor button in the Toolbar above.

5. Give your anchor a descriptive name, then select OK.

6. You should now see your anchor showing in the editor. Click Save as Draft to save the content block.

Note: Your anchor will not be visible on the page.

7. Make sure you Copy the URL of the page your anchor is on.

Linking to an Anchor

1. Navigate to the page where you'd like to place the link to your anchor and Edit the corresponding Content Block to bring up the Web Content Editor.

2. Highlight the text you'd like to link the anchor to and select the  Link button in the toolbar.

3. Paste in the URL of the page your anchor is on.

4. At the end of the URL, add in #your-anchor-name

The full URL should look like:

ca.rbcwealthmanagement.com/web/advisor.name/page-name#your-anchor-name

This will instruct the link to navigate to that page, then to that specific anchor location.

5. When you are finished, click OK.

6. Your link should now be added. Click Save as Draft to save the content block.

7. Test your anchor by clicking the link. It should navigate you the page you specified, with your anchor's location appearing at the top of the page.

8. After you have tested your anchor and confirmed that it is navigating correctly, submit both content blocks for approval.
