Formatting Your Text: Applying Approved Styles

Modified on Mon, 4 Nov, 2024 at 2:42 PM

Your Marketing team has created a number of pre-existing styles to help you quickly format your text and stay compliant with their branding guidelines. These can be found in the Format drop-down menu in the Toolbar.

Attempting to apply certain styles or fonts may not display your expected results, as they may be overridden by these pre-formatted styles.

Using the Format Menu

In the Format menu, you should see styles for Normal (paragraph text) and Heading 1 to Heading 6

Note: DO NOT use Heading 1. The Heading 1 style is used as the "main topic" and is reserved for use as the Page Title, which usually resides in your page's banner.

Headings should be always be used hierarchically by number and NOT by style.

It's recommended to always start with Heading 2 as your top-level heading when starting a new section. Heading 2s can be thought of as the "main points" of your "topic".

Search engines use Headings to index the structure and contents of your web pages but also help our users to find information more easily. It is important to format your text with this in mind.

Properly utilizing these headings will help to improve your ranking on search engines as well as make your page easier for your viewer’s to read.

Note: Use HTML headings for headings only. Don't use headings to make text BIG or bold.

Example 1: Categorical

Example 1 shows us a basic sample of how our Headings may be properly structured to format our content.

Example 2: Prose

In example 2, we can see a live sample of how our headings may be used in a different way. Our "Welcome to Veriday Wealth Management Group [...]" is our Heading 2 and acts as our starting point, introducing our user to our page.

The "Achieve financial freedom [...]" uses a Heading 3 subheader. It relates to our Heading 2 by acting as a subtitle to our Heading 2

The Heading 4 items further detail and clarify the information presented in our Heading 2 and Heading 3.
